shudder adventure part 2 i guess and the return of silver scream

WHOA OH. Guess what I just watched?? Like the credits were rolling as I started this entry, because it was so good. Oh yeah. So good that I'm typing will correct capitalisation apparently. HELL HOLE by the Adams Family. After Hellbender, I wasn't sure what to expect, but that was at least as good The Glorious Dead. The monster was so good!!!! How can something be so gross and squirmy that it makes me happy??? Anyway mpreg lol. There were some pretty funny lines in this movie, and the music was awesome. I liked everything about this movie! Nikola being protective of the monster reminded me of Spock in The Devil in the Dark (well, Spock before the Horta attacked Kirk LOL ) and I loved how excited Sofija was about ~science~ like mostly in the beginning. When it was just thoughts of parasites and not. A creature making guys explode. Love to see it!

Last night I watched The Crow! My first Silver Scream movie in a long time. It was way better than I expected. I wasn't really ever planning on watching this, because of the rape aspect, but no, it was as okay as it was gonna be; like yeah it's a woman suffering for a man's character development, or the sake the plot I guess more than character development, but at least it wasn't depicted to be like. A spectacle, as I had feared. So it turned out to be a pretty fun movie with all the car chases and gun-shooting, and general ridiculousness. IDK if I'd watch it again, but it was pretty good.

Before that, I watched another movie on Shudder, Come to Daddy. That was crap. It made me think "hmm probably most of these movies on Shudder that I've never really heard of before suck". I watched this one because it was mentioned in some Reddit comment...

shudder adventure part i

i watched saccharine so i wanted to find a picture of alfred stuffing his face but honestly it doesn't seem like i have any good ones... okay SO i watched saccharine, as i said, and to do that, i signed up for shudder. but honestly i think i'm going to cancel it before the free trial is up because it doesn't seem like there's a lot of movies on there that i want to watch. still, i'm going to aim for one every day.

about saccharine - i didn't really like it. mainly it felt too long. i was like 39 minutes into the movie or something but it felt like i had been watching it for way longer. i did not appreciate the lesbian aspect. wow bury your gays. the thing with the garbage chute in the beginning and the end was kinda neat. honestly it's like girl just stop buying donuts and get off tik tok. the binge scenes were all scary in. not a fun way. the scene in the convenience store was kinda funny i guess, like mainly the cashier's reaction.

today i watched hellbender. this is so different from the glorious dead, because in that movie SO MANY THINGS ARE HAPPENING. in one day. in hellbender, not much is happening, over half a year??? all of the nature was nice and toby poser's voice is so cute and pleasant to me, but really this feels like one of the most boring movies i have ever watched. the ending was an improvement. it could have been from a different (and more horror-ish) movie. i liked the gory bits even though there wasn't much of them. and the crazy teeth! it's funny that this movie also has a weird flesh hole. i'm going to watch hell hole next.

hellifax horror fest!!!!!!

anime man on fire wow perfect. glad i had this. time to talk about hellifax. last year, or maybe the year before, i saw posters for this event, but it had already passed. last year i definitely wasn't home when it happened. i had something else going on, so i only went to three showings. i wish i at least went to the shorts too, which i could have done.

anyway... ancestral beasts. i really liked this movie! but it was more... not that great as horror (not scary and the monster didn't impress me that much), very good as a movie about family and mental illness. elise was a great character who was really real and relatable, someone you want to see succeed and find peace. i like how this movie has the trope of "staying in the house in the middle of nowhere" BUT it just feels natural. the director talked about how he liked putting horror tropes in the movie, but it's really impressive how NOT trope-y he made them feel. also, in a lot of movies where someone visits the ~creepy rural house~, it's (supposed to be) a vacation! fun! with friends! but then if they go into town, the townspeople are going to be like EEUUUGH CITYFOLK BEST GET OUT. for elise, it's the exact opposite. the fact that she possibly doesn't have any friends at home makes me feel even more connected to this movie. there's so much more i could say about this movie, but this is too long already........

next: turn it up. this was the most elder millenial movie ever. i'm sure everybody involved had fun making this movie. it brought to mind many famous pieces of media that i have consumed before, or have not consumed but are famous enough that i know enough about them anyway. drumheller alberta mention.

third: the glorious dead! this movie was so much fun and it made me really happy!!!! i don't really know anything about the adams family but i want to watch the rest of their movies now, but idk if they'll be as good!! deb was an awesome main character. let this woman have her coffee. let her have her day off. one detail i really loved for no reason was the chandelier in that guys house. i love when women have guns. the music was cool too! very delicious blood and gore and weird holes in the ground. the monsters sure were something. i loved mikey's random theories. also omg mychem. not. i guess the only thing i didn't really like was the rapture aspect like huh?? is this pro-christianity??? surely not lmao. also hahaha when mary was speaking japanese and im like. damn i understand this enough for it to be funny

never walk on the sun

did i watch any other movies since the last time i posted??? probably not. i rewatched saw iii. oh, oh wait!!!! i watched the langoliers. on a train because that is the place to watch something about things going wrong on an airplane. the langoliers kinda sucks but i like the idea that you can time travel, but no one will be there, and the light and the sound will also disappear soon enough. the weird cgi monsters were not beneficial though. anyway, popcorn isn't bad, maybe i would give it a 7. i like the 90s fashion, and the film festival looked like so much fun! there wasn't really anything about it i disliked, and the ending was pretty awesome.

this was my first time going to a thrillerma showing. you have to acquire the ticket in person, before the show. basically, the area where they show the movies (a room in a museum) gives me some kind of underground feeling. or a class trip feeling. that's probably what that room was used for. idk.

movie i watched because someone mentioned it in a facebook comment and im like oh is that still in theatres

yeah i just watched the backrooms. aww i wish i had someone to go to movies with, to talk about it after, but this blog will have to do. to me, this movie was effective. i was grinning a lot and i was like "i hate this" a lot and i was grinning and thinking "i hate this" at the same time.  the sets and furniture were so good!!! but i felt like the actors didn't look very 90s-ish. the small details were great. like when you see a ceiling light that's cut off by a wall. a wall that doesn't need to be angled that way but it is.

anyway, it really pushed the scp foundation / roadside picnic / otherside picnic / yume nikki / marble hornets / former dream analyst buttons in my brain but sometimes it was like pushing the buttons with an ice pick. it makes me think about longlegs (which i never wrote about on here i guess) and candyman - in longlegs, it's the storage unit scene, and in candyman, the abandoned apartment in cabrini green. longlegs has the crazy mother too, and candyman has a white woman and a black man as the two main characters too. but really, it's the place where you shouldn't be and might not get out of that's the only thing that ever gets to me in horror movies. idc about straight people or teenagers with social lives getting murdered lol. also, yeah, of course i enjoy backrooms and liminal space pictures (except when people completely misunderstand the idea of liminal space) and i love dead malls and empty stores and things that have been repurposed somewhat incorrectly and things that need an explanation but might not have one, things that are just weird......

the dentist office that i went to as a kid was on the second floor of a two storey building and when you walked up the stairs, to your left was this inaccessible platform  that had a banister around it, and there was furniture or toys or other decorations inside... it's like that. it's like everything you've seen before, even if it's just in a picture. the carpet. being nostalgic about 90s carpet is stupid but i kind of am sometimes

the building is scary. (i don't mean my old dentist office) the furniture is scary. these things are real and somehow they can be scary lol

happy shining people

waaaoh i hate that song. happy shiny people i mean. i don't hate The Shining.

yay pinky:st lol. it's crazy how even though this movie has the psychic stuff going on, it's still more realistic than a lot of horror movies. whoa a guy kills or tries to kill his family. holy shit a woman is in a relationship with a man who is ugly, balding, disrespectful, abusive, has a drinking problem, and doesn't do any actual work.  like, notice that you never see him doing any of the caretaker work, he just pretends to write and he's not even getting paid for that. he was probably a shitty teacher too. let me guess, he got fired for trying to molest a student.

this movie is like. don't trust balding men, BUT you can trust a fully bald man. also, i really had no idea how this one was going to end, so i found it pretty enjoyable. i had seen the 1920s photo before but i kinda forgot about it, so seeing it was interesting. and the sound design was... really horrible at times but in a good way where it really pulls you into the movie. i also liked the hedge maze because it reminds me of when i used to play slender all the time. could have done without the bath woman like horror movies just can't not do it can they???? at least it wasn't a naked man lmao

ALSO, i never wrote about how i watched the original pet sematary, but that was pretty good. the outdoor atmosphere really speaks to me. and tasha yar is there! err, denise crosby.

also also i forgot i was going to post about lolita stuff here, but i made a tumblr about it. that i have barely used...

egl journey part 0

ohhhhh yeah. this blog shall have a purpose again. perhaps. anyway, no one will read it. will saying "lolita" increase or decrease my chances of anyone reading this blog?? idk why im calling it a journey like umm ok what is the destination?  the better question is why am i doing this? why did this urge surface? well, i do love j-fashion, and the obsession gets strong sometimes, but... there's no community for j-fashion in halifax (someone made one a couple years ago but there were never any events)  and there's very little online (but maybe it's all on discord ) and not much is to my taste, and other than sexpot revenge, all the brands that used to make cool stuff stopped doing that... anyway you know im bored, lonely, have too much extra money, and decided to (maybe) keep my hair "longer" again so i guess it makes me want to dress cute in a girly way MAYBE.

also this is the worst time ever to suddenly become interested in lolita, both on a personal level and maybe in general, with how burando quality seems to have fallen, and the second-hand market seems kinda ass (really not much better than the CC punk section situation i suppose). but also personally i am on a boat and can't wear anything fun and can't receive packages BUT THAT HASN'T STOPPED ME from making stupid purchases on CC.

i was only going to buy one main piece until i could try it on and see how i feel but nooooo. my dumb (and obsessive) ass has bought two jsks and a skirt. STUPID! but i want to believe it's fine because pst me was interested in lolita. in two separate time periods... so does that mean that if i was truly interested,  i would have kept being interested in it continuously, even though i couldn't wear it? but what if i had prioitised it over anime figures and cosplay and whatever else? what if i did buy an usakumya with my grad money in 2013? well, maybe i wouldn't've even kept it,  just like my stupid cardigan i bought off livejournal a million years ago AAAAAAAAA i need to re-acquire it. every sold listing for that cardigan is cheap like noooooo anyway kicking myself for my impossible minimalist dreams and constantly revolving interests and being kinda depressed and shittttttttt in the mid 2010s. kinda. just a little bit. cod idfk like what am i

no wait, i said that in the first paragraph - bored and lonely YAHOOOO buying expensive japanese clothes will not fix that just because they have more ribbons on them than my h.anarchy shit but ykno. anyway, stay untuned for my fake christmas special in just over a week

my ssd is not plugged in

...so yeah. i finally watched evil dead. the evil dead? idk. i don't care. at first it was like Wow! Olden times straight teenagers hanging out in the middle of nowhere! never seen that before! (i have. it's called texas chainsaw massacre) wow this is just like cabin fever but from the 80s <-- would a true horror fan shoot me for saying this???? but then honestly it did start getting better and was actually pretty alright. big fan of it NOT having a final girl big fan of having a dude be the final girl. it really didn't feel like it was low budget, it seemed normal. like campy, yeah, but. it's from the 80s.

also i have watched saw 2 and saw 3. saw 2 was so long ago, i can't believe i didn't write about it here. i feel like it wasn't as good as the first one, but the house really set it apart from the first movie so it was kinda nice that it was so different. the main thing i remember is the needle pit. :\  and the door gun lol.

saw 3 wasn't that long ago. i liked when that guy was getting drowned in pig juice. sooooo gross but so funny. can't say the same for frozen lady. and wozzname that old moid sure did puke i think and i feel like there was another guy who puked at some point but i forget lol.

horrorshow

have this hetalia picture because why not. it's dark out early now so it's easier to watch movies. i watched hellraiser 2 and saw tonight and it's not even that late yet. hellraiser 2 felt like a really nothing movie. somehow the first hour passed really quickly. the effects somehow reminded me of the original star trek even though i haven't watched that in years but. i feel like star trek TOS had really stupid looking effects.

saw was fine i guess. yay male suffering. but idk it wasnt really good enough. and did adam have any chance at getting rescued or not. it was too vague. idk if i wanted him to die or not. at some points the movie was really interesting but sometimes it felt really boring. idk.

also a longer amount of time ago i watched terrifier 2, even though i didn't like the first one. the second one was better in some ways but worse in some ways. at least it had more of a plot. it's pretty forgettable other than that part. it seems like ppl always mention the salt but the salt was the least awful part of that scene. i kinda wanted to stop watching the movie but also i was like no. and i was glad i didnt stop watching since that was the worst part. :\ but i feel like sienna had some cool moments of attacking art at least. but i cant really remember. idk if i should watch the third one.

btw the only movie on welcome to horrorwood i haven't watched is the evil dead so i need to watch that. silver scream has more i haven't watched though...

i am still watching horror movies

obviously none of them are as good as death note. the last one i watched was final destination. does that even count as a horror movie? if i had to say a good thing about this movie it was that i liked when tony todd was there - but if i hadn't previously seen candyman then he would have just been some random guy. also claire's first outfit was pretty hot but it feels fucked up to say that since her character is supposed to be a high schooler but based off all these other movies i assume the actress was not a teenager but ???? anyway the all black look and showing that tiny amount of skin was great. even tho wearing a slightly too short top is pretty annoying like if you're actually wearing it

also before that i watched terrifier. i didn't really think the effects were all that fancy. and it felt pretty stupid. is it really better to go inside some creepy building with some guy to take a piss vs doing it outside at night while wearing a dress????? i don't think so. the lady with the doll made it seem like they were trying way too hard. why was she even in the building. what was the purpose of any of the areas of the building. like i can't say there was anything i liked about terrifier. work of art by ice nine kills is pretty good tho.

swag swag swag etc

my blog has a non-zero amount of views. but it's close to zero. did someone come to my blog looking for the petekey truth. honestly i just wanted to post this picture from world of gays.

i never wrote about candyman on here but actually that's one of the best horror movies i have watched. it's nice to have a horror movie that takes place in a city. unlike texas chainsaw massacre. i watched the old version of it in theatre for a special event thing. it really was different from the 2000s one. savages by ice nine kills is definitely way more relevant to the original movie LOL. but tcm is still really whatever to me. well the 2000s one with the guy getting hooked was better i think but i like the hitchhiker in the older one more i suppose.

but anyway candyman yeah it was good because it was easier to care about the characters more than most horror movies. but then there was a point where i started thinking the mc was pretty dumb. the scene where she's going to her car is that point lol it amuses me that the most important white guy character in the movie is cheating pedo husband who is significantly more hateable than the "antagonist" also the scenes in that abandoned apartment were so creepy like i was actually scared hahaha

it's me again

it's a picture of matt death note because he has a striped shirt and i watched nightmare on elm street and freddy has a striped shirt so yeah. i haven't really been watching any movies. i forget if i watched anything between the exorcist and nightmare on elm street. anyway. i watched nightmare on elm street as you (non-existent person) have already heard. and then i watched the second nightmare on elm street. ugh. i barely even remember the first one any more. like ok it was just another one of those movies about straight teenagers who are actually closer to 30 then they are teenagers but anyway they are very straight. i wish someone i liked would climb thru my window. there's nothing to say about it like it was the same as all those other 80s and 70s horror movies. the boiler room made me think "oh whats that show... recess??? detention?? no not that. flying rhino junior high."

the second one was pretty weird. why did they call it freddy's revenge. wasn't the first movie also freddy getting revenge??? how much of what happened in this movie was even supposed to be real. also way too much dude nipples in this movie. i complain about all the straight teenagers in these movies but the gay aspect of this movie was weird.

and then ok the movie i forgot i watched but i saw it in my library borrowing history: silence of the lambs. were there even any moths in this movie. i expected moths to be more of a thing. it was better than most of these movies simply because the main character was not a teenager. yay. idk it was kinda interesting but forgettable. quid pro quo as we go~~~ oh that part where you think that guy is the guy but actually its hannibal that was good i guess

ALSO i watched longlegs in theatre. it sure also was a movie with a female fbi agent as the main character. it was kinda whatever like they set up that kinda psychic thing in the start but then it just disappeared. and did the doll stuff really make any sense? or am i just dumb. when will i watch a horror movie that actually makes an impact.

here's another blog entry no one will read

late post, but okay. no one is reading this. if you are reading this i guess you're the special-est person in the world. you are cod's chosen kitten or whatever the fuck. anyway since last time i have viewed the following three "horror" movies... DUN DUN DUN

resident evil. the ice nine kills song is called a rainy day. there is no rain in this movie. most of it happens underground. i think i read that the second movie has rain in it????? maybe that was in the lyrics page on genius dot com. it was different from the movies i watched so far, but i still really didn't care about any of the characters. the cgi was pretty stupid looking at times. there was a creature. idk.

then scream. ok at first i was like yeah this movie wastes no time. the beginning was pretty promising. but ehh... i got too used to these hour and a half movies and THIS FELT SO LONG. SO MANY characters who are supposed to be teenagers but they look so old. i guess that's probably supposed to a be a reference to all the other movies that are like that. but still.

and last night i watched the exorcist which is not an ice nine kills movie but it was in theatre as a special event type thing. again it was quite a different movie. the happy family scenes between the mother and daughter made me think that i might actually care once stuff started happening, but i really didn't. it wasn't scary. no tension. the slime looked like it belonged in a no-budget ghostbusters fan-film.

for the right price you're just a pretty piece of meat!!!!!!!

this post is about hostel and....... MY BLOODY VALENTINE! welllllllll i had fun watching these two movies. actually, i watched hostel in the middle of the week. as punishment for thinking i failed a test (i passed it tho). i love wurst vacation so much, it's my fave INK song!!!! so i was kinda scared to watch hostel because maybe it would disappoint me or maybe it would be too gross. well, it kinda disappointed me. it was less torture-y than i expected xD all the tools on the dvd make you think the torturers are going to have a LOT of fun with them... ehhh kinda disappointing. so much boob screen time in this movie I DON'T REALLY MIND but i wish the brunette girl tortured one of the guys....... TT__TT i wish any girl tortured somneone. hmu

then on the weekend i watched MBV - heard u liek hot dog water........... this movie had really creative kills and i thought the effects were really good. the scenes down in the mine were actually kind of creepy. compared to halloween and friday the 13th this movie was soooooo much better. everything they lacked, MBV had it. i might be biased but yeah the setting and the characters felt way more realistic? idk. i liked it. the ending song is a banger

PSYCHO KILLER qu'est-ce que c'est?????

time for a post with a slightly more relevant pic... it's psycho on VHS which was one of the movies i watched this weekend. did i mention i've been watching all these movies on a crappy old crt i got off the side of the road? but all the dvds are widescreen... but the vhs tape is 4:3. anyway, on to the actual movies!

friday night was hellraiser! i kinda had high hopes (yay p!atd) for this movie. it sounded cool. but it didn't really deliver. style over substance. except the effects weren't even that good. like the dude's face in pieces on the floor what was that LOL and the hooks going through "skin" like idk. it wasn't doing it for me. and like, the engineer? yeah if you saw something like that in real life, it'd be fucked but it's just a movie so it's just stupid looking. and again it's such a STRAIGHT PEOPLE movie. and so 80s. i ordered the dvd of the second one cuz i want to see if the effects get any better...

saturday's movie was psycho, the 1998 version. i kinda wonder if it would have been better to watch the original? would it be creepy in black and white? i might try watching that one at some point. i don't have much to say about this movie. the song is better than the movie! maybe i knew too much about the movie? the motel should have been creepier looking. the average motel is creepier looking i think.

then on sunday i watched another movie, but not even an ice nine kills movie! i wanted to see a horror movie in a theatre, so i went and watched the strangers. i don't know if it's just because it was in a theatre, or if it was because it's not an 80s movie, or what, but aaah, finally some tension LOL loud parts are really loud in a theatre though... and like yeah it was kinda stupid but i thought it was better than some of the other stuff i've been watching. like i was actually wondering if they were going to survive or not...

watching straight kids get killed in the woods

random death note picture wooot!!!! it is time again, my dear sweet void, to write about the movies i watched this weekend. first was friday the 13th. i watched it on saturday and not friday. horrible, i know.

it was better than halloween. in the beginning it was like, yeah annie is ok (lol) she is talking to a dog so that's cute. she didn't stick around long tho. this movie wasn't scary and the effects weren't very impressive. that older guy (was his name steve) looked so stupid when he was shirtless and wearing jorts like everything about his whole look was so bad. the make-up for kid jason was creepy but like. wow deformed looking child is creepy. wow. somehow it feels hard to remember much of anything to say about this movie. TGIF is a really good song in terms of including a lot of details from the movie and doing them well. probably one of the best, like hip to be scared level.

then i watched cabin fever. this one was actually pretty fun other than the sex scenes Do Not Want umm give me a version of this movie with them cut out and i'd rewatch it. kinda funny to compare this movie to texas chainsaw massacre. the group of young people going on a trip and fucked up stuff happens in their vehicle and people die and there is weed. but cabin fever is more silly and the colour palette isn't so desaturated. anyway, my favourite part was when that one guy fell in the water where the burnt corpse was. also i liked the part where one of the guys fell asleep with his head on the other guy's shoulder. nice. also squirrels are gay. and omg the ending LMAO also when that guy was touching the blonde girl under the blanket and his hand comes up covered in blood like hahahaha periods. not.

also the bunny guy in the hospital. omg like cabin fever has so many things. it's so silly. is hostel this silly i wish hostel would be silly but i feel like it probably isn't.

silver screaming again

wooo random pic! okay let's go!! this past weekend i watched two more movies that ice nine kills songs were based off of! child's play and texas chainsaw massacre! exclamation points!!!!!!

after the disappointment that was halloween, i figured i could watch ANYTHING and it would be better than that, so i watched child's play, and actually it was awesome! the effects and puppetry and animatronics and everything were so good. it's amazing how much work was put in to making chucky come to life and it was worth the effort. they were so fricking good at movie effects back then! and the car scene was awesome. knife up TEH BUTT. almost. plus this movie had cool explosions

on the other hand, texas chainsaw massacre. nah. honestly savages isn't a bad song on its own, but in terms of movie tie-in it's not the great compared to the other INK songs. like put in a line about how you'll be HOOKED or something about the piano like why didn't they do more with this song. compare this song to hip to be scared, there's no competition. but yeah, the movie is soooo whatever too. like. was it better than halloween. well maybe. halloween is very dark all the time, tcm is very desaturated all the time. tcm can make u happy to be vegetarian (not that it was necessary) and plus it's like the opposite of copaganda but that's really the best i can say about it.

the silver scream!!!!!!

hahahahaha i have come up with a good use for this blog! in my last post i mentioned being obsessed with ice nine kills - well, i have started watching the movies that silver scream and welcome to horrorwood are based off of! so im going to write about them here because who the fuck would care

i already watched american psycho a couple of years ago. i hate it, but i love it. american psycho is a movie that does not Bury The Gays ok there's only one gay person but yeah. american psycho rocks for not killing luis. but also i love paul allen's death scene sooooooo much. i love paul allen's fake vacation i mean he totally goes on vacation yeah. i have to return some video tapes

the first movie i watched specifically bcuz of INK was pet sematary, but i watched the 2019 version and didn't know it was a remake lol it was kinda dumb but not bad but i feel like i already forget anything notable about it. like i remember the plot 100% (umm because ice nine kills) but i don't remember the experience of watching it??? or something idk

next i watched the fly! the 50s version and then the 80s version. the 50s version was pretty silly in all its 50s-ness. the little boy was so weird and like. im sure he wasn't supposed to be but he was so weird to me. the sets were kinda cool. andrefly sure was different from brundlefly......... it's crazy how different the two movies were. the 80s one was so gross! but it was funny when his ear fell off tbh.

then last night i watched halloween. IT WAS SO FRICKING BORING like huh????? it was kinda funny when the boyfriend was swinging upside down, dead. it wasn't even close to scary in any way and the plot and characters were boring, and there weren't any cool special effects or crazy make-up. why is the song so much better than the movie
